This idea of tap dancing and the idea of audio-visual rhythm that is being played out in tap dancing reminded me of the way in which sustained exposure to drum ‘n’ bass and jungle in the mid-90s effectively attuned you to all kinds of rhythmic psychedelia, such that you started searching for rhythmic psychedelias wherever you found them, and eventually you could stumble on tap dancing as a form of controlled experimentation with the stretching and collapsing, the contracting and the distension of time.
